Also, if you work to-and-from a lot of PCs, you might consider AV only as a way to help PC users by removing viruses from attachments you receive and forward on from/to infect PCs.
All in all, however, the only real defense is behavior.

Bingo, AVs are designed to block couple viruses that a person might encounter throughout the year. They cannot block stupid.
