Also, any tips on a protective screen cover would be much appreciated.
You are correct about those two cases. And for a screen protector the two you can buy off of Apple's website are what you want.

Or you can get a 3 pack at the store here:

Keep in mind with these cases they tend to scratch the chrome bezal a good amount... I'd avoid them if you care about your chrome...

Just be careful with some cases, they do mess up the sensitivity on the iPhone's touchscreen. Take a look at the video I posted on YouTube.

Not sure if they are available for the 3G yet, but I really like the Covertec cases (Covertec.com - luxury leather cases and accessories for PDA, smartphones, GPS, GSM, iPod, multimedia...). These are leather and the one that I have for my iPod Video (aka Classic) is great without adding much bulk.

Default Which case will you be getting?

I just ordered the Bodyguardz protection for the 3G, and since that's so thin and only for scratches really, I want to buy a case for it to protect it from any falls. I have no idea what to get though. So my question is, which case are you getting? Any suggestions?

I bought the invisibleSHEILD and probably will pair it with something else.

Default Best Silicon Case?

I don't like any of those big bulky cases, but for your previous iPhones, what was the best Silicon composition Case that you guys have used?

I also ordered the Bodyguardz. I'm going to get one of these to carry in pocket.
Sport Grip™ for iPhone 3G

And maybe one of these iPhone 3G C.E.O.™ Premiere

Having a similar case for my Treo 700wx, I would be concerned of dropping my iPhone. What would happen is that pulling out my 700wx at times the stylus would be sticking out and get caught in the case an therefore I'd loose control of the 700wx as I saw it flying towards the concrete. I know, I know the iPhone has no stylus, but it's happened a few times where now I'm leary when pulling out the phone.

What I'm wondering is whether the sportsgrip type of case affects the cellular signal?

Ooh man, nevermind those other two I posted.

I really like this one now, after looking at what hermdog posted:
