Could Accessories ruin the investment?

I am looking to get a couple of chargers because we all know how wonderfull the batteries are on these devices! I was wondering if I really had to spend the extreme amount of money on the Apple brand products or if off brands will work. What should I look out for? If it has a chipset in it to protect overcharging does that means it is ok?

Try to but the most expensive one. Cheap ones will BURN the iPhone and warranty will NOT cover it.
