Default Early Termination Fee?

Does anyone know if at&t will charge you an ETF if you return your iPhone within the 14-day trial period?

Apparently not if you return the phone as well.

What happens to my phone number? Does it float in cyberspace, or can I move it to another carrier?

If you cancel service before transferring the number, it's lost for sure. If you transfer first, then you should just have to remind AT&T that it was during the trial period to prevent the ETF, but given that we're talking about a cellular company, who knows.

If you cancel service in time all you will have to pay is the Apple restocking fee. I wonder if you return the phone to an AT&T store, if they charge the fee also....
