Default MAC Users & Antivirus

For all you MAC folks out there, do any of you have an antivirus program installed on your MAC? Would you recommend it?

No, don't need it. Of course you will get someone who disagrees with me. And for these Trojans that are floating around, it's not the same thing as a virus.

Don't us AV either. If I had to run Windows as a working OS in VM or Bootcamp, I'd run AV inside the Windows install. I just use Win to test with, so I don't even bother with that (don't get email in it, don't go to untrusted sites).

Also, if you work to-and-from a lot of PCs, you might consider AV only as a way to help PC users by removing viruses from attachments you receive and forward on from/to infect PCs.

All in all, however, the only real defense is behavior.

I have been receiving a lot of SPAM emails lately, at least twice a day. I have my junk folder set to automatically filter it there. Is there anything I can use to control that? It seems like the Spam increases after I receive forwarded emails from friends.
And Rene, interesting point about working to and from a lot of Pc's. Most of my family and friends have pc's so that is where all the email I receive comes from as well as where I send to.

It is a pop account through a local cable service. I tried Gmail and use it for some things, like Ebay. But really do not care for it that much.

It just seems like the SPam will come in waves and then settle down for awhile then start back up again. I get so annoyed when I get a forwarded email joke that has already been sent to 50 people before me. A lot of folks don't take the the time or simply don't know how to wipe all of those email addies before they forward something.

Bingo, AVs are designed to block couple viruses that a person might encounter throughout the year. They cannot block stupid.
