Hey Dooks,
I haven't tried the 512 with the 1g yet. Read somewhere online that they should be equal memory cards. I am going to mess with it this afternoon and put both 512 cards back in to see if they are both recognized. If so I'll put both 1g in again. If they don't work I'll order new ones. I have a white MacBook. It's not even 2yrs old yet. Guess it's 4th generation with 2g ram.

Update:

Evidently one of the 1G cards from my IMAC became corrupt when I removed it. I experimented with putting back both 512 cards and they worked fine. Then I removed one of the 1G cards and replaced it with a 512 and only the 512 was recognized. Opened her up a third time, removed the other 1G, replaced it with the 1G I'd removed and now it reads both dimms as occupied and 1.5G memory present. REALLY helps to have the proper tools as well. Stopped by Lowes and picked up a #0 Phillips and it was so much easier to remove the 3 screws.

So, I'll have order another 1g of memory to balance things out. Will it hurt in any way to have 2 different sized memory cards in my Macbook until I can replace the 512? AND does anyone know what the max memory is on the 4th gen Macbook? Can it take 4G?

Thanks!
