Default Airport Extreme Weirdness!

I have a gigabit Airport Extreme at home, post March 5 firmware update, it works perfectly with my iMac and MacBook Air over WiFi.

My friend has a pre-gigabit Airport Extreme at home, post March 5 firmware update, and while it works fine on his computers and MacBook, it constantly drops and re-acquires WiFi, making it slow and frustrating.

Apple Discussions show I'm not alone, but don't show any good solutions yet

Apple - Support - Discussions - MacBook Air + Airport Extreme ...

I have the same issue as your friend. I have a Vista desktop and XP latptop. XP machine is for work and I use VPN, which disconnects everytime the Airport Extreme drops the signal. Very annoying.

Looks like we'll be waiting on a firmware or other fix from Apple

My brother was telling me he had and issue and called Apple support and he selected a different chan and enabled some interference filter/setting (not sure what it's called) that helps the wifi signal in environments with lots of other wifi signals.
