Check out What phone did you have before your iPhone?

You will see the thinking of others and how they feel about their decision.

I just switched from a Blackberry Tour to the iPhone and would do it again. I thought I would hate typing on the device however I've been doing well with it. The phone makes a lot more sense for me as it has a few things the BB couldn't give me at the moment. The BB is a great phone but if it doesn't have the features you want then you might as well find a phone that does, more than likely that'll be the iPhone.

I wanted to be able to listen to sirius radio while at work and I couldn't use a repeater/transmitter nor could I stream it from the internet from work. I also cycle quite a lot and when I had a BB I needed to carry the BB incase something happened to me and an iPod so I could listen to music. I know I could have put music on the 8gb SD card I had in the BB but lets face it, the BB is NOT a media playing device. My girlfriend also recently moved to AT&T so it made sense for me to move from Sprint (I love Sprints service and their CS) to AT&T. And the apps that are being created for the iPhone makes it far more than JUST a phone.

Hope some of this helps.

Jay

Congrats on the switch. I worked at Nokia for 4 years and used their devices for double that. Honestly, I can relate to the anxiety of learning a new platform. I made my switch back in July and have not looked back. There are things to get used to but the cool thing is that I've found MAC and iPhone users to be very eager to help out. Search the forums and ask your questions but I'm pretty sure you can find answers here by searching the threads.

You are not special. Everyone (save a few people living in caves) is thinking of getting an iPhone. Expect shortages between now and Christmas. Get yours while they last and then do the research. Spend your time on decisions that are hard to undo if you get them wrong. This one is a "no-brainer."

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and links.

I was looking at the iPhone section of the Apple site and it seems that out of the box I will not be able to sync it with my PC unless I purchase MobileMe for $99/year. Is this true?

BlackBerry made a name for itself in the business world and seems to be trying to merge "entertainment" into its devices. Since I use mine for work (email - personal & work [POP3] & MS Office files) I would need to be able to get my email and sync my calendar with my phone.

I've gone into the local Apple store and they have been great. I will have to find more than a few minutes and bring a list of my questions.

You don't need mobile me unless you want to sync it in the cloud. To sync it with your computer all you need is iTunes, a free download.

Thank you. I already have iTunes on my PC for my iPod.
