Default New iMac to go with my Macbook Pro.

Okay, my wife just got an iMac for Xmas (yes, a little early). Any "must have" software that I should install? This is mostly going to be for things like surfing the web, video conferencing, maybe an occasional game, and some Microsoft Office stuff. Already got Microsoft Office, Oovoo, and I am going to install World of Goo.

Anything else?

(BTW, the iTunes home sharings works great between my PC and her iMac...I couldn't get it to work before with her old computer and my PC. Maybe it is Windows 7, maybe it is her Mac, maybe both, but something changed and it now works).

Chris

I was about to pick one up myself.. but instead welcomed a Victorian bulldog to go along with my English bulldog.

I use 1Password to manage my passwords, Handbrake to rip DVDs, but a lot of stuff like iMovie, Garage Band, iPhoto, etc. is just built in so there's really not much else unless you have specific work in mind (there's even a ton of development stuff on the DVD you can install if you want).

If you want to put movies you rip or whatever onto your iPhone get squint or isquint(I'm not on my Mac right now can't remember which it is), IPhone Explorer will allow you to browse your JB iPhone file system if you are JB. The new GarageBand now allows you to create ringtones right from within the interface and istat menus will give you temp and other readings of your machine.

Get iLife. Some really cool stuff in there!

I second Handbrake with Renne. "Easy-peezee, Lemon Squeezee"

Adium and or Growl if you are big IM users.

MacOffice, even though I prefer iWorks. Keynote rocks!

Skype works great with Video Chat along with iChat. Then the usuals like FF (although I use Safari mostly), Tweetdeck, Dropbox,...
