What the best instant messaging app fromthe app store or jailbroken that has push like email and tells you even if your not in the app. Thanks for the help

If you use Backgrounder from the App store, you should be able to use any IM software and keep it running.

Oh, excuse me, isn't Backgrounder a Cydia app? It seems to be absent from the App Store, being just one more unofficial solution for jailbroken iPhones.

Go with BeeJiveIM. It's a bit pricey compared to other ones but you won't regret it. By far the most polished IM client on iPhone.
