Why is the safari app icon a compass?

Because the mac/windows applications has got a compass icon aswell.

Why does the mac/windows application got a compass icon? Because a compass is usually what you take into the safari.
Also a compass can symbolise traveling around, as you travel on the web (or something like that :P)
