2.1 is here!!
i can't get it right now i'm at work... What is this.."Repeat alert for incoming text messages???" Anyone got this yet and tried it out? * Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls * Significantly better battery life for most users * Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes * Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts * Faster installation of 3rd party applications * Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications * Improved performance in text messaging * Faster loading and searching of contacts * Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display * Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages * Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts * Genius playlist creation |

I really want to know as well about the text alert!!!! If its what I think I am excited! I started to download it but it says 3 hours so I stopped it, I don't have 3 hours I have to work in less than two so it will have to wait till after work.

The Edge icon is different now.
![]() Still browsing for other new things. NO MORE LAG FOR CONTACTS OR TEXTING! WOOO. It could just be my head thinking the update did something, but I think I'm getting better service here now. iTunes 8 now shows how much space Apps are taking up, like Music and Videos. Can't find this text message alert thing. Maybe it's just set as that as default now? Updating Apps from iTunes is SO much faster. I'll try out installing stuff over the air and updating directly from my iPhone to see how much that has improved later today too.

I guess if you manually manage music the Genius feature will not show up (for me at least) so here's what I did:
In iTunes, click on a song and then the Genius button. Click on "Save Playlist" at the top of the list of songs. This will create a playlist in your "playlists" section of iTunes. Drag the newly created playlist up to your iPhone. It'll create a Genius playlist on your iPhone but more importantly the Genius function now appears to work on the iPhone itself. Thanks to the Apple Discussion Forums. ![]()
