My EDGE reception has been greatly improved. I'll check how much 3G has changed when I'm home during Thanksgiving break.

I'm curious to see when/where AT&T is expanding 3G.

Everyone needs to keep in mind just because you have a good signal does not mean you will have blazing fast speed. You have to take into consider location, etc... Your speed will also fluctuate

Default I dont get it

i just checked out testmyiphone and it says that the average 3G download speed is over 1mbps. I have never seen anything approaching this speed. And I work in an AT&T Building. On a good day, I get around .6mbps and i am thankful. Do these numbers seem skewed a little high to the rest of you, or am I just in a bad location? Or is there some city in the US with such increadibly great cell service that they are raising the curve?

It matters where you are. I have 5 bars with 3g in some places and get only .8mps, then in others almost 1.9mbps.

I have not been having any significant problems with my 3G iPhone after the 2.1 update. I do seem connected to the 3G network much more often than I did before. 2.0.1 worked fine, then 2.0.2 was released and actually cause 100 times more problems. After updating to 2.1 though, everything is fine.

3G speeds are exceptionally good, though I haven't run download tests for speed confirmation. Apps seem to load incredibly fast, especially when compared to 2.0.2 firmware. Load webpages under 2.1 also goes much faster and I think I've only had one Safari crash since 2.1 came out. Under 2.0.2, Safari crashed often.

After 2.1, the 3G iPhone seems to have become the phone I was expecting when I first upgraded to the 3G. I'm much happier about my phone since the upgrade!

testmyiphone:
D/L: 1335kbps, 6.68 x faster than EDGE
U/L: 194kbps, 4.31 x faster than EDGE

iphonespeed test:
D/L: 409.6kbps
Does not measure U/L

Both tests done sitting at my desk at work with 5 bars on 3G.

A bit of a difference with the results but well within tolerance to keep me happy

My experience is that testmyiphone seems to be far more consistant a result than iphonespeedtest. I have run back-to-back tests with iphonespeedtest and get results all over the map. i guess that this might also have to do with where you are geographically (and the route each request takes to get to the destination) but i get a warm fuzzy with testmyiphone.
