i was thinking about picking up an iphone but dont wanna pay for my data minutes and sms seperatly so does anyone know of an app or anything that allows u to send and receive free sms/mms

There are several actually. SMSTouch and FreeSMS just to name two. Search through the App Store and you will find quite a few.

I personally use SMSTouch and it works quite well.

Look for one that has push when checking them out.

Or be sure to have "push" set up on your email. Most of these work through your email. That way when some one texts back your email "dings" automatically.
