My goodness the YouTube app sucks. The video quality is horrible, the sound is even worse. Some times videos don't even load, I have to select it two or three times. QuickTime videos looks great, actually showing off the iPhone's great resolution. I'm embarassed to show anybody a YouTube clip

It has nothing to do with the YouTube app rather than the data cap (meaning AT&T does not allow YouTube to suck all the bandwidth creating that blocky look in the videos) AT&T or other carriers may restrict. If you are on Wi-Fi the videos in YouTube look fine.

i find it kind of odd that if i'm playing vids on youtube just using Safari, certain vids will give me an error like.. "this movie is not supported"
so i back out and go back into it and it plays just fine.
anyone else seen this???

Yea it happens to me when i have bad service but thats about it

If you are jailbroken you can get 3g Unrestrictor and watch You Tube vids over 3g like it was wifi.

I didn't know anyone even used the YouTube app. I used to use a lot of gimmicky stuff with my phone, but now I use it almost exclusively for productivity of one sort or another. It's good, I guess, that when the gimmicks get old you can fall back on the fact that the iPhone is actually a really competent business/educational tool.
