Before I upgrade iphone 3GS to latest firmware can anyone assist me how to save themes and pictures.

if you're talking about jailbroken themes there's an entire section on this forums related to that.

Do you have an iPhone folder viwer, like iPhonebrowser or iFunBox? If not, google them and download one. You will need your iPhone plugged in to view the files. Go to raw file system once plugged in.

The themes are located in: Library/Themes.
The photos are in: var/mobile/Mdia/DCIM/100APPLE

Copy and drag to desired folders.
