Need help with jailbroken iPhone

I just jailbroke my iPhone 3G with firmware 3.1.2 and I want to learn how to put on jailbroken iPhone specific apps. I've extensively searched Google, but most things don't work with 3.0+. Can anyone help? Thanks.
