Question Thinking about getting someone an iPhone, but they opened a line over a month ago

I've been thinking about getting an iPhone for my cousin who's graduating High School very soon. She opened a line with AT&T over a month ago.

One of my other cousins has a first gen iPhone. Can we pop her SIM Card in their 1st gen, take it to AT&T and get the 2 year agreement price?

I remember when the 3G came out, AT&T had a how to video and they mentioned that people who had a first gen can get the 3G for the 2 year price.

If anyone has an insight on this, please let me know.

Thanks

Best bet would be to contact AT&T and see what they can do. We can speculate all we want, but ultimately they hold the power!
