Since so many people use email these days. I'm wondering if this MMS release will have longevity...
I'll probably use it once or twice, for the sake of it. But, will most likely revert to email It can always be saved, and stored forever - LOL
I think there is a significant amount of people who will revert to email, but I don't think most will. There are lots of people (primarily young adults and teens) who don't use email often and would much prefer to send an MMS. There is also still a lot of people without smartphones, and if you want a picture sent instantly to that person, MMS is really the only option.
You have to have a second AT&T phone to get MMS via the carrier update, correct - has to do w/putting the iPhone SIM in an older phone w/MMS, doing something on the website, yada yada? I think I've read about this, but the problem is that my iPhone is my only AT&T phone (and actually, my only phone period!)
I wasn't referring to doing a sim swap, simply stating that you will not need to upgrade to 3.1 (prior to a jailbreak being released) unless you want to. On Sept 25 (or earlier) you can put one of the carrier files people are using now to activate mms, on your phone and it will work. I am personally using one of the carrier files that was extracted from 3.1 beta 2.
I thought it was just a profile update. Thats all Fido did here, only had to wait two days after the release and I got the Carrier Profile update message, not a whole new software update.
