Hello all...i am traveling to Canada in a few weeks and was wondering if the iPhone was considered a "World Phone"??? I want to buy a Canadian Pre-paid Sim Card and use it on this phone so i dont have to worry about Roaming Charges...i am currently with T-Mobile, if that matters...please, all suggestions are appreciated...Thank you
This is just something i found while browsing: ekit prepaid USA SIM card - calling in Canada and USA - eBay (item 140299479908 end time Oct-03-09 04:52:14 PDT) Last edited by loudrims_inc : 09-25-2009 at 07:54 PM. |

The iPhone is a GSM phone, so it will roam in Canada on our GSM network Rogers/Fido. (Most of the world is GSM, which is what lets the same iPhone be sold in 70 countries).
However, a Rogers/Fido SIM won't work in an AT&T iPhone because that iPhone is carrier-locked to AT&T (Rogers iPhones won't work on AT&T or even Fido for the same reason). So, unless you Jailbreak and Unlock your iPhone, you'll be stuck using your AT&T SIM and paying the roaming charges. You can get roaming plans from AT&T, but they're fairly expensive in their own right. Don't even try data unless you're unlocked. It will cost you a fortune. Wifi will be your new best friend. |
